✨ Course Overview
Now in its second year, Voice Among the Stars is a powerful five-week virtual programme designed to help girls in Africa discover their voice, build leadership skills, and explore their place in the African space ecosystem. Aligned with Women's Month in South Africa, this course combines inspiration, mentorship, and collaboration to equip participants with real-world confidence, on Earth and beyond.
In 2025, our first cohort brought together 52 girls from six African countries and saw every participant present to an international audience that included representatives from UNOOSA, SANSA, and the Kenyan Space Agency. In 2026, we are building on that foundation with more star groups and more room for girls across the continent.
Co-hosted by Moonshot Africa in partnership with the Cosmic Girls Foundation and Women in Space Kenya (WiSK), the programme blends storytelling, group activities, and expert-led seminars to create a unique learning journey for girls from all academic backgrounds, not just STEM.
🎓 What You’ll Learn
Each week builds a different set of skills, leading up to a public Final Showcase:
Discover: Space in Africa - Build a foundation in Africa's role in the global space industry and discover that space goes far beyond STEM.
Speak: Find Your Voice - Explore confidence, communication, and self-expression, and find the courage to speak up and lead.
Rise: Resilience in Action - Learn how to navigate challenges and setbacks with emotional strength and a growth mindset.
Build: Mission Launch - Bring your vision to life through teamwork, creativity, and leadership in action.
Shine: Final Showcase - Present your ideas to a wider audience using everything you have learned.
🗓️ How the Week Works
From the 4th August to 27th August, each week includes two sessions from 18:30 - 19:30 SAST (GMT +2):
Tuesday Seminar - an inspiring woman from the space industry shares her journey, expertise, and encouragement.
Thursday Workshop - girls from different parts of Africa working together in small breakout groups to build a specific skill tied to that week's theme.
The programme then closes with the Final Showcase on 1st September 2026.
